This clock was made by Smiths, the largest English clock company up to about 1960.
They made clock for the military and the motor trade but principally for domestic use.
Some were mains electric and others were wind-up clocks.
This one had a mechanical movement which was too expensive to repair and nowadays in such cases power is provided by a modern quartz movement
keeping perfect time without the hassle of winding the clock up each week.
These clocks are much sought after today as the mid-century look is popular with interior designers etc.
The clock is in good condition bearing in mind its age and the dial is protected by a brass bezel and glass which is often missing.
A real find and I have priced it very competitively.
