A real stunning example of a clock made by Smiths, the leading clock company in the UK at the time.
It is highly ornate, octagonal metal case with metal scrollwork design, set on top of the dial and protected by a solid piece of octagonal glass.
The Art Deco numbers in polished steel have used 4 metal pointers to indicate the 12, 3, 6 and 9 numbers.
The shape of the hands are those used on many of the Smiths clocks which made it easy to identify.
The clock movement probably needs a clean to restore it to reliable working condition.
It sits on a solid stable brass base. It is a really interesting example of 1930's design and would have probably been a very expensive item to buy.
There is, on the back, a small inscription saying "Patent Applied For".
