We came across this lovely weathered General Post Office 'GPO' dial which must date before George V1's death in 1951 (See photographs of his insignia)
The dial would have been protected with a bezel and glass, most likely fitted with an electric movement as there is no winding hole on the dial if it had been a mechanical wind-up clock.
We have fitted it into an English Fusee wall clock wooden surround and painted the old case in Post Office red.
Fortunately we have fitted a pair of traditional hands you would have found on such a clock and painted them red too. They are attached to a new heavy duty quartz movement set behind the clock which
has a hanger attached.
This is really a one off piece with a nice history attached.
