The round English wall clock was popular in homes, shops and factories as a reliable time keeper right up to the 1950's. Here is an example probably from the 1920's where the old movement was too costly to repair so that we have fitted it with a modern quartz movement with all the advantages for better time-keeping without any winding. The name "James Ramsay, Dundee" appears on the dial, which is mounted into a red (re-painted) wooden case that still has the original back box that used to hold the mechanical movement. A similar clock with an overhauled original movement would probably be three times more expensive, but this version is ideal for modern day use.
