An early 19th Century painted clock dial from an English 30-hour longcase (grandfather) clock. These iron dials were painted by dial artists in number of centres throughout Britain and have a simple charm about them, which endures. The dial artists rarely signed their work and many of them worked in The Potteries in Stoke-on-Trent turning their hands to clock dials when they weren't painting china and porcellain. We have fitted a suitably antiqued pair of hands to a quartz movement to achieve perfect timing.
