The clock has a tall slimly elegant pine case which we have painted in a distressed pale blue to highlight the colours of the dial and to give it a more up to date feel. Pine case clocks were originally painted or grained to make them look more valuable so our modern day rendering in pale blue is nothing new. The previous one we had and painted was featured in the Financial Times in February which is an indication of its appeal. The clock dates from around 1795 and the dial is signed 'Foxton, Sutton' a listed maker in 'G.H.Baillie's Watch & Clockmakers of the World'. Sutton-in-Ashfield is a town 13 miles North West of Nottingham. The clock has a 30 hour weight driven movement striking hourly on a bell. The clock is in full working order.
