A rare French Turret clock from the 19th Century with an enamel dial mounted onto a solid wooden back and edged in metal. Each Roman numeral is a separate convex enamel panel (cartouche) and the dial probably came from a factory belonging to L.TERRAILLON et Cie of PERRIGNY (Jura), the name appearing on the dial.
The condition of the dial is good with some damage to the enamel which is inevitable for its age. I've only ever had another dial of this style and it is now hangs on our wall at home !
This is a truly stunning dial. Circa 1880
The beauty about this clock is that it keeps perfect timing. We have engineered a quartz movement to drive the extra long hands we have made in lightweight material in the same style as the much heavier original ones. |
